Abstract

The activities of employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations involved in the elimination of emergency situations are associated with a high risk to the life and health of themselves and other people. The choice of criteria and methods for the selection of competent
specialists is a significant psychological problem. The article presents the results of a study of the severity of self-regulation of behavior, inclination and readiness for risk among employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The propensity for risk can cause excessively risky behavior in extreme situations of these professionals, while the willingness to take risks creates the conditions for effective decision-making in these situations, identifying mechanisms that allow these employees to control these processes is of great practical importance. The study in-
volved firefighters, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, whose activities directly take place in extreme conditions, and employees whose work is of an administrative nature and is not related to extreme conditions, as a control group. It was revealed that in the two groups
of employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, in general, the ability to moreregulate is highly developed, however, psychologists should pay attention to the development of independence in the development of individual support programs for specialists working in extreme
working conditions. Experts with an extreme profile are statistically more willing to take risks, which determines the effectiveness of their decision-making in situations of risk. Employees with a low willingness to take risks were identified, which should also be paid attention to by psychologists. Approbation of the battery of methods showed their suitability for screening studies in order to fix the dynamics of the studied indicators by psychologists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.ng. The study is based on the commentar-ies for Shakespeare's plays “Hamlet” and “Macbeth”.
